Makeup Effects Studio
The Sharp FX studio is located in Melbourne, VIC, Australia.
The studio is fully equipped and designed to adapt to an ever changing variety of projects, large and small, with a focus on practicality and flexibility.
Sharp FX have created special makeup effects throughout Australia: Adelaide (South Australia), Brisbane (Queensland), Darwin (the Northern Territory), Hobart (Tasmania), Melbourne (Victoria), Perth (Western Australia), Sydney (New South Wales).
Also travelling overseas for international projects.
Sharp FX are able to create items in the Melbourne studio or set-up a temporary workshop at a separate location, dependant upon project and client requirements.
Director
The Sharp FX studio is headed by Russell Sharp IMDB.
Russell’s interest in makeup effects started when he was 11 years old.
Growing up in a small country town in NSW an interest in art and classic old horror movies fuelled his passion to become a makeup FX artist.
With limited resources he began making his own garage monster masks until his desire to learn more had him traveling to Sydney to complete both beauty makeup and prosthetic makeup courses.
Russell’s first job in the film industry was on Babe 2 Pig In the City, he then worked for 3 years full time as a sculptor for a themeing company, during this time he was promoted to head of the art department.
When the themeing company closed its doors Russell became a freelance makeup FX artist and continued to build his skills working on films such as: The Matrix 2 & 3, Queen of the Damned and Ghost Rider IMDB.
After several years of freelancing Russell started his own company Sharp FX where he continues to grow his passion for all things practical.
